Advanced injection training

If you are new to injecting and we will walk you through the essential anatomy and teach you how to landmark inject the peripheral skeleton.  New injectors will also be introduced to ultrasound guidance and you will have the opportunity to practice this exciting skill with your injections.  If you are an experienced injector we offer an ultrasound-only stream tailored for those who want to bring ultrasound guidance into their injection practice.

Practical focus

Our ultrasound injection courses are practical and we focus only on teaching you to use an ultrasound to guide your injections.  We don't waste time with physics or ultrasound theory, rather we get down to the brass tacks of teaching you probe and patient positioning and helping you understand the image you're looking at.  Then we teach you to find the target injection site and how to image your needle to the target for a safe and effective injection.  By the end of three days with us you will be ready to take your skills back to your clinic to begin using an ultrasound in your practice.

experienced instructors

At West Coast our instructors have over 40 years of combined experience.  Two of our instructors are  instructors for Sport Medicine Ultrasound Canada, a company that teaches GP's, ER Physicians and Surgeons how to do ultrasound guided injections.  We all use ultrasound in our practices on a daily basis and believe ultrasound guidance should be the standard in any injection practice due to increased accuracy, safety and efficacy.

cadaver lab

The third day of our course is a cadaver lab where you can practice your ultrasound skills on partitioned cadaver specimens to refine your skills so you are more comfortable using ultrasound guidance when you get back to your clinic.  Practicing on cadavers allows you to freedom to practice without risk of harm and is an invaluable learning experience that students have told us helps to cement their newfound injection skills.

hands on learning with multiple Ultrasound machines

Our hands-on course gives you a small ratio of learner to instructor for personalized learning tailored to your level of expertise and interest.  We have at least one ultrasound machine for every two learners and we have partnered with two ultrasound companies to bring you support and discounts on machines.  In our courses you will have, at most, 4 learners to one instructor allowing for personalized instruction and lots of time scanning.

vendor support and discounts

We have partnered with leaders in the injection industry to provide you with access to vendor information, discounts and support during and after the course.  Past learners have expressed to us that having direct, in-course, access to vendor reps has been helpful in sorting out the equipment and supplies best suited to their needs.

charting aids and supporting documentation

An injection practice is a complex business involving much more than knowing how to safely inject.  At West Coast Injection Training we provide you with supporting documentation and charting aids in a form that allows you to add your clinic logo so you don't have to spend the many hours needed to create them from scratch.
